Crowns & Bridges
Dental crowns are the most frequently used restorations we offer. Crowns fit over the top of damaged dental structures to restore the shape of the tooth and bite alignment. In most cases, dental crowns take two visits to complete. During an initial visit, we remove a small amount of enamel to accommodate the crown, capture bite impressions, and place a temporary crown. Our trusted dental lab crafts a custom crown, and when we receive the final restoration, patients return to the office to receive their final dental crown. For those patients who need a dental crown restoration who would like to complete the treatment in less time, we offer same day E4D dental crowns.
Root canal therapy is necessary when decay or damage has accessed the interior, pulp, layers of teeth where the nerve system is housed. Because these infections directly affect the nerves, the associated toothache can be extremely painful. Patients in need of root canal therapy typically experience lingering sensitivity to changes in temperature that can be painful. Root canals require the complete removal of the pulp and nerve tissue of the tooth, refilling of the tooth, and sealing shut of the access hole. We may also need to place a dental crown to fully protect the tooth.
Dentures & Partials
Partial and full dentures are necessary for those patients who experience extensive tooth loss, numerous consecutive or nonconsecutive teeth along a single arch or a full arch of teeth. Partials are created to fill any number of gaps in patients’ smiles, snapping into position like a puzzle piece. These partial dentures are held in place with metal clasps connected to remaining teeth. Full dentures include an entire arch of replacement teeth set into a gum colored base that is shaped to fit snuggly against the gum line creating natural suction that holds the denture in place.
The traditional dental crown restoration process takes two visits over the course of several weeks or months to complete. At Creative Smiles, we’re happy to offer a quicker alternative, same-day dental crown restoration with the E4D computer assisted design and manufacture (CAD/CAM) system. E4D allows our team to complete the entire dental crown placement process in a single visit. Same day dental crowns using the E4D system are crafted from high quality ceramic materials. In addition to being completed in just one visit, the ceramic material makes these restorations more natural looking than other restorative materials. The process is similar to that used to place a traditional dental crown. Patients arrive at our office, and we remove a small amount of dental structure or gum tissue in preparation for the creation and placement of the dental crown. We then capture digital bite impressions that are immediately accessible by our in-office milling unit where we custom design the restoration. Once we have created the precise dental crown design, the milling unit crafts a restoration from quality ceramic that has been shaded to perfectly match the patients’ natural tooth color. In the meantime, patients relax comfortably in our office. Once the restoration is complete, we carefully place the custom crown, make any necessary adjustments, polish the restoration, and seal the crown in position. The entire process can take just a few hours on a single day versus the same amount of time spread over several weeks or even months depending on the location of the dental lab where the crown is crafted. In addition to offering complete treatment all on the same day, E4D removes the necessity to place and remove a temporary crown, which increases the risk for further dental damage. If you’re in need of a dental crown for any reason, don’t hesitate to ask one of our knowledgeable team members about E4D.
Traditional fillings used silver-colored amalgam material to reshape or repair minor tooth decay or damage. However, overtime these fillings have a tendency to expand and contract breaking away from the tooth, causing additional wear, and allowing bacteria to access the tooth enamel. Composite resin, tooth-colored fillings offer an alternative that looks completely natural, and is less likely to damage or break away from teeth over time. Composite resin is applied directly to the damaged tooth in a putty-like form. Once the material is shaped into position over the damaged or decayed tooth, and harden the filling into position. The whole treatment is completed quickly and effectively during one visit to our office.
