Your Journey Towards a Complete, Confident Smile

Getting dental implants in Clintonville is very different than replacing your missing teeth with a traditional dental bridge or denture. Before you begin your journey towards a complete, confident smile, we’ll walk you through the process step by step. During your initial consultation, we’ll work with you to plan out your entire treatment, including estimates for the timeline and cost. While every patient’s tooth replacement plan will be slightly different, you can typically expect some of the basics below. When you’re ready to permanently rebuild your smile with dental implants, give us a call and schedule your consultation!

Dental Implant Consultation

Your first step towards a restored smile is to come visit us for a consultation. Dr. Eric Buck, Dr. Hannah Burton, or Dr. Danny Moosa will take the time to get to know you and have a conversation about what your goals are for your smile. Then, they’ll review your medical history as well as your teeth, gums, and jaws to see if dental implants are a good choice for you.

If you’re in good overall health, have adequate jawbone density, and are free of oral health issues like tooth decay and gum disease, we can go ahead and plan the next step of your treatment. If you’re not quite a good candidate for dental implants, we can work with you to address whatever issues are in your way of getting a brand-new smile.

Dental Implant Surgery

Once you’ve completed any needed preliminary treatments like bone grafting, tooth extractions, or gum disease therapy, we can schedule your dental implant surgery. We work with a highly experienced Clintonville implant dentist for this step to ensure you receive the best treatment possible. The process of placing your dental implant is relatively straightforward: first, your mouth will be numbed and a small incision will be made in the gums. The small dental implant post is then inserted into your jawbone carefully, and a protective cap is placed on top of it. Your gum tissue is then closed around it and the healing process can begin.

Dental Implant Osseointegration & Abutment

As your mouth heals after your dental implant surgery, the dental implant post in your jaw will begin to fuse with the surrounding bone tissue. This process is called osseointegration, and it’s what will provide your tooth replacement with incredible function, comfort, and longevity. Typically, it will take somewhere between four and six months before this step is complete. Once you’ve healed enough, you may need another minor surgery to attach a small connector piece called an abutment to the implant post.

Once your mouth has fully healed from placing the dental implant post and abutment, you’ll return to our office to have your final restoration secured into place. We’ll carefully attach your permanent crown, bridge, or denture to the abutment and check to see if your new bite feels comfortable. Then, once you’re satisfied, you’ll be ready to go out into the world and enjoy your new and improved smile!
